United Board Candidate Deadline Today

The United Laguna Woods Mutual board of directors is calling for interested United Mutual members to submit candidate applications for the 2024 annual election.

Interested members may obtain an application and election process instructions from the General Manager’s office, located in the Community Center (24351 El Toro Road) from Corporate Secretary Makayla Schwietert (949-268-2295) or Assistant Corporate Secretary Paul Nguyen (949-268-2383). Please check in with the Community Center front desk concierge, who will notify the corporate secretaries that you wish to obtain election documents.

United Mutual 2024 Election Details 

Please note: The deadline to submit candidate applications, video agreements and statements to the inspector of elections is next Friday, June 28.

There will be four open positions with terms ending in 2027:

  • Wednesday, May 29, 2024: Nominations open. Obtain candidate applications in the General Manager’s office at the Community Center.
  • Friday, June 28, 2024: Submit candidate statements to the inspector of elections per candidate packet instructions by 5 p.m.
  • Friday, June 28, 2024: Submit completed applications and candidate video agreements to the corporate secretaries by 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, August 27, 2024: Ballots mailed.
  • Thursday, September 26, 2024: Ballots due by 11 a.m.
  • Friday, September 27, 2024: Ballots counted at a United board special tabulation meeting at 1:30 p.m. in the Community Center board room.
  • Tuesday, October 8, 2024: United Mutual candidates with the most votes will be seated on the United board at the annual corporate members meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the Community Center board room.

If You Experience Ballot Issues

If you do not receive your ballot by Monday, September 9, 2024, or if your ballot is lost or damaged, call the UniLect inspector of elections duplicate request center at 1-866-466-6455, which is available 24/7 throughout the balloting period. For any other questions regarding the election, contact Inspector of Elections, UniLect Corporation at 1-888-864-5328. According to state HOA election regulations, only one ballot is mailed per household/manor.

New Resident Services Enhancements

Resident Services is pleased to announce enhancements that offer a more efficient and responsive customer service experience for Village residents.

Automated Communication Emails

The Resident Services ticketing system now enables automated emails that provide status updates for common-area service requests, such as laundry room issues, streetlight repairs, rodent concerns and more. Residents who originate a ticket requests will receive automated email updates only if they have a valid email address on file.

View Common-Area Tickets in the Resident Portal

Residents and staff can now view and track common-area service requests directly through the resident portal. This new feature provides a more convenient way for interested parties to stay updated on the progress of common-area tickets submitted for any location in the community.  

Why These Enhancements Matter

Previously, the ticketing system focused mainly on requests associated with individual manors, but common-area issues are equally important to residents. With this new functionality, residents can now monitor the resolution of these issues with the same ease as tickets associated with their manor.

Clubhouse 1 Beautification Update

The beautification of Clubhouse 1, which began on March 4, is progressing smoothly and remains on schedule for completion in late August.

Key milestones completed to date include relocating user groups and activities to other facilities, demolition, establishing a temporary bus service hub, exterior and interior painting, flooring and drywall patching.

Other ongoing tasks, such as window replacement, electrical work, renovations to the ballroom fireplace and bathroom upgrades, are proceeding as planned.

Other work that is not a part of the original beautification project but is intended to be completed during the closure of the complex includes pool replastering, a new pool chemical distribution system installation, parking lot rehabilitation and beam replacement in the shuffleboard and archery rooms.

Bulky-Item Pickups

CR&R’s bulky-item pickup program picks up unwanted clutter weekly, without you having to call Resident Services to request collection.

Simply place unwanted bulky items out by your shared trash enclosure or on the curb where your personal trash and recycling carts are collected on your area’s collection day between 7 p.m. the night before and 8 a.m. the day of your pickup.

Please only place bulky items at the enclosures you typically use to discard your trash and recycling. If you have a personal cart, only place bulky items at the curb where you normally place trash and recycling carts for collection.

When placing out bulky items for collection, please do not block access to any enclosure, containers in any enclosure or vehicle travel. Car parts, construction/demolition/hazardous waste and items not safely loaded and unloaded into a vehicle by two people will not be accepted.

Alternatively, consider donating useable bulky items to charity to reduce the tonnage that ends up in the local landfill.

There will be a no-host bar, however, feel free to bring your own adult beverages.

Woodstock will a masseuse, tarot card reader, body painting, photo booth, and arts/crafts vendors for attendees to enjoy.

Wristbands are on sale for $20 at boomersclub.org. You can pick up the wristbands purchased online or purchase them in person at Clubhouse 2, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and at 19 Restaurant and Lounge, Fridays from 5 to 7 p.m. Check out the complete schedule of dates, times and locations. 

Shuttle Buses

Shuttle buses will pick up at Clubhouse 3/PAC, Clubhouse 5 and the Florence Sylvester Senior Center.
