Experience the 2026 LWAA Exhibit

Village residents and their guests are invited to visit the Laguna Woods Village Community Center to experience the newly installed 2026 Laguna Woods Art Association exhibit, a highly anticipated and well-regarded showcase of artistic talent.

Cette exposition spéciale présente les membres de l'association artistique qui donnent vie à leurs visions créatives dans le studio d'art Clubhouse 4, partageant leurs talents, leurs passions et leurs joies artistiques avec la communauté.

Whether expressed in acrylic, mixed media, oil, watercolor or other media, the works on display span a diverse range of themes, from spectacular natural landscapes and evocative still lifes to bold statements, intriguing curiosities and deeply introspective portraits. Each piece offers its own opportunity to inspire, captivate, charm, amuse or provoke thought.

Presidents Day Hours

Presidents Day, a federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February, originally was established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington. The holiday became popularly known as Presidents’ Day after it was moved as part of 1971’s Uniform Monday Holiday Act, an attempt to create more three-day weekends for the nation’s workers. While several states still have individual holidays honoring the birthdays of Washington, Abraham Lincoln and other figures, Presidents Day is now popularly viewed as a day to celebrate all U.S. presidents, past and present.

Who Should You Call First?

Medical emergency? Accident? Fire? Theft? In a stressful moment, the hardest part is often knowing who to call first, 9-1-1 or Village Security Services. Let’s keep it simple.

When to Call 9-1-1

If there is immediate danger, call 9-1-1 first. Always. This includes medical emergencies, accidents, crimes in progress, fires, disaster response and any situation where someone is at imminent risk and every minute counts.

When you call 9-1-1, you reach dispatchers at the Orange County Communications Center, who route your call to the fire department, paramedics and or the Orange County Sheriff’s Department as needed. The OC Sheriff’s Department has served as the City of Laguna Woods’ contracted law enforcement agency since 1999. This matters because the sheriffs and fire departments have training, authority and resources that Village Security does not, including:

  • Emergency medical response coordination
  • Crime scene investigation
  • Missing person searches
  • Disaster response

In many situations, Village Security must contact the Sheriff. Calling 9-1-1 first saves valuable time and can help prevent a situation from escalating.

When to Call Village Security

Call Village Security first at 949-580-1400 for non-emergency situations, including:

  • Assistance with leaks
  • Noise complaints
  • Lost property
  • Parking concerns
  • Gate clearance issues
  • Wellness checks, such as when a neighbor has not been seen or heard from in several days and you are concerned

When to Call the Sheriff’s Non-Emergency Dispatch

For non-emergency crimes that have already occurred, such as vandalism or theft, residents should contact the Sheriff’s Non-Emergency Dispatch at 949-770-6011.

This message is provided by the Foundation of Laguna Woods Village as part of its emergency preparedness initiative. For more information, visit fondationoflagunawoodsvillage.org.

Clubhouse 4 Woodshop Reopens

On December 15, a fire occurred inside the woodshop at Clubhouse 4, prompting a response from the Orange County Fire Authority. The fire was contained by the building’s sprinkler system, but fire and water damage impacted the woodshop and surrounding areas, temporarily disrupting operations. Crews subsequently assessed the damage and completed cleanup and demolition work.

A containment was installed to allow reconstruction to move forward while keeping a majority of the woodshop operational, with activity resuming alongside ongoing repairs.

Available woodshop equipment has been tested to ensure all systems are safe and fully functional. As of Friday, February 6, the woodshop is now open.
