Get Help With Village Tech Tools

Helpful technology classes are available at the Bob Sellards PC Club Learning Center adjacent to the PC Club workshop on the third floor of the Community Center. Open to Village residents and their guests, PC Club classes are free but donations are welcome at the door. Registration is required prior to each class.

On Tuesday, March 19, from 1 to 3 p.m., a Laguna Woods Technology Tools class will cover the purpose and use of Laguna Woods Village tech tools, including dwellingLIVE, guest passes and more. לחץ כאן for the March class roster.

During a special meeting of the Village Management Services board of directors on Friday, February 9, the members of VMS Inc.—the boards of directors of Third Laguna Hills Mutual, United Laguna Woods Mutual and GRF—voted to expand residents’ employment opportunities with VMS Inc. 

The previous employment policy authorized qualified residents to hold part-time positions within the company; the new policy will also welcome full-time employment. 

Executive staff, working with the VMS board, is preparing full-time employment guidelines for residents. The new policy will take effect later this spring after guidelines are finalized.

Have you ever wondered how the total assessments you pay in Laguna Woods Village stack up when compared to other active 55+ communities? With support of the VMS board of directors, the Financial Services Department has prepared a cost breakdown of various 55+ communities that compares average basic assessments, common-use amenities, total assessments, community locations, home values and amenities offered, and more. 

The data is telling—favorably for Laguna Woods Village. Third and United mutuals together are by far the largest representation, with 12,425 homes, compared to the next-largest community with half the number of homes and a total basic assessment that is more than twice that of United’s and almost twice that of Third’s.

As work on Interstate 5 (I-5) in Orange County continues, California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has announced the closure of the I-5 El Toro Road southbound off-ramp this weekend from 11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, to 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5.
