ETWD Public Hearing

The El Toro Water District (ETWD) will hold a public hearing to consider modifying rates on July 28 at 7:30 a.m. at El Toro Water District, 24251 Los Alisos Blvd., Lake Forest, CA  92630. The public hearing will be held as part of the regularly scheduled board meeting.

The meeting will be available virtually via Zoom and a link to the public hearing will be listed and clickable from the meeting agenda. The agenda will be posted on the ETWD website on or before July 25. Click here to access the Board Meeting agenda page.

Election and Annual Meeting

Notice is hereby given that in accordance with Civil Code §5115, the following candidates submitted United Board of Director applications by the close of nominations on June 24, 2022, by 5 p.m. for United Mutual Laguna Woods Mutual, a California nonprofit mutual benefit corporation.

For the purpose of selecting United Board of Director candidates to fill three seats, with all terms ending in 2025 at the annual election, ballots will be mailed on Monday, August 22, 2022, and must be returned by Thursday, September 22, 2022, at 5 p.m. to the Community Center at 24351 El Toro Road, Laguna Woods, CA 92637.

Ballots will be counted at a special United Board of Director’s tabulation meeting on Friday, September 23, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. in the board room. The new directors will be seated at the United Mutual Laguna Woods Mutual annual meeting on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. in the board room.

If you do not receive your ballot or if your ballot is lost or damaged, please contact the UniLect Inspector of Elections duplicate request call center at 866-466-6455, which is available 24/7 throughout the balloting period.

Resiliency and Wellness Strategies

The past two years have been stressful from a health and personal perspective. Discover strategies to maintain a healthy lifestyle that promote resiliency and wellness as we age in the next Optimal Aging Lecture Series on Wednesday, August 3, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Clubhouse 2 Sequoia Ballroom. In her discussion, “How Lifestyle Impacts Wellness,” Dr. Sonia Sehgal, a board-certified UCI Health internist who specializes in the care and treatment of older adults, will discuss an innovative clinical practice at UCI called the Health Assessment Program for Seniors in which patients are evaluated using a team-based approach to emphasize one’s overall well-being.

New Phoebe Gong Yoga Classes

Three things our body loses as we age: posture, pelvic mobility and muscle strength. Through regular yoga practice, you will get stronger, be more flexible and improve your posture. Please join us for 75 minutes of self-love, self-care, and body-and-mind connection in one or both of these free drop-in classes.

Meridian Yoga

The Meridian Yoga class is on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. in the Clubhouse 5 Fitness Room.

Through stretches of the body’s meridian and simple yoga poses, meridian yoga can improve body strength, balance and movement. Yoga’s incorporation of meditation and breathing can help improve mental well-being, develop inner awareness and strengthen the mind-and-body connection.

Embrace Life Yoga

The Embrace Life Yoga class is on Fridays from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. in Clubhouse 7.

The most important focus within yoga practice is to develop inner awareness. Using breath and movement to bring your attention and awareness of the body’s ability to the present moment, yoga can relieve stress, strengthen the body and improve whole-body health.

No Clippings in Organics Recycling Carts

Please do not place prunings in organics recycling carts. To ensure all Village residents can participate in the program and use the carts for accepted organics waste, please do not fill the organics carts with garden/lawn prunings.

Instead, please call Resident Services at 949-597-4600 on Thursdays before noon to schedule a Friday clippings pickup.

Final Splash Day on Aug. 12

Children can make one last summer splash in Pool 2 from noon to 4 p.m. August 12. Tickets are $5 for kids ages 2 and older; free for infants and adults. Admission includes swimming, water slide, games, ice cream and soda. Purchase a wristband in the Clubhouse 2 office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or in the Recreation office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Picnics are welcome, but glass and alcohol are prohibited.

Residents and contractors alike can access the mutual consent status update log here or by visiting the Manor Alterations Division landing page (lagunawoodsvillage.com > Residents > Manor Alterations) and clicking “mutual consent application status.” Residents can obtain even more detailed information by logging in to the resident portal at portal.lagunawoodsvillage.com.

In addition to this new capability to provide up-to-the-minute status updates for mutual consent applications, VMS anticipates significantly shorter mutual consent application processing times.
