If you have been annoyed by mosquitoes this year, you are not alone. Mosquito populations have grown in Orange County due to wet weather over the past year. घास की जड़ों को मोटी, गहरी और मज़बूत होने के लिए हवा, पानी और पोषक तत्वों की ज़रूरत होती है। जब मिट्टी थोड़ी सी भी सघन हो जाती है, तो यह उन ज़रूरी पोषक तत्वों के प्रवाह को रोक देती है जो घनी और स्वस्थ घास की वृद्धि में सहायक होते हैं। सघन मिट्टी घास के स्वास्थ्य और सुंदरता में महत्वपूर्ण बदलाव ला सकती है।

जब मिट्टी सघन होती है, तो टर्फ की जड़ें उथली हो जाती हैं क्योंकि पानी मिट्टी की ऊपरी परत से आगे नहीं जा पाता। इस स्थिति में, टर्फ को गर्मी और कम वर्षा जैसी तनावपूर्ण स्थितियों में संघर्ष करना पड़ता है और अधिक सिंचाई की आवश्यकता होती है। वायु संचार प्रक्रिया मिट्टी को सघनता से मुक्त करने के लिए हवा निकालती है ताकि हवा, पानी और पोषक तत्व घास की जड़ों तक पहुँच सकें। ये हवा के निकास पानी को मिट्टी में गहराई तक जाने देते हैं, जिससे जड़ें गहरी होती हैं और सिंचाई का अपवाह कम होता है।

थर्ड म्यूचुअल 30 अक्टूबर, 2023 के सप्ताह से गेट 7 पर टर्फ को हवादार करना शुरू करेगा और म्यूचुअल के 165 एकड़ टर्फ पर काम करेगा, इस प्रक्रिया में चार महीने लगने की उम्मीद है। सिंचाई दल, एरिएशन ठेकेदार से आगे काम करेंगे और एरिएशन मशीन से होने वाले नुकसान से बचने के लिए सिंचाई हेड्स पर नीले झंडे लगाएँगे। मशीन छोटे भूरे "प्लग" छोड़ेगी जो मिट्टी और घास के हानिरहित कोर हैं। अगले घास काटने के चक्र में वीएमएस मावर्स द्वारा इन प्लग्स को तोड़ दिया जाएगा।

इस कार्य में किसी रसायन का प्रयोग नहीं किया जाता है तथा टर्फ पर लगे प्लग से पालतू जानवरों को कोई खतरा नहीं होता है।

When visiting Resident Services Department in the Laguna Woods Village Community Center (24351 El Toro Road), residents will notice a new, easier-to-use kiosk for check-in. The system, developed by a VMS Information Services Department staff member, is expected to save the community $7,000 per year on software subscription fees and support and maintenance costs. The new system features larger font, an easier-to-use touch screen and predictive text that expedites the check-in process. The system will also help management identify peak traffic periods to better allocate staff resources, reduce wait times and maximize efficiency. If you have concerns about using the new kiosk, don’t worry. Concierge staff in the front lobby will be standing by to show you the ropes.

As work on Interstate (I-5) in Orange County continues, California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has announced a new closure. The northbound 1-5 straight on-ramp from westbound El Toro Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Monday, October 23, 2023, to approximately 5 a.m. Wednesday, November 1. Detours are listed below:

• First detour: Northbound Muirlands to northbound straight on-ramp from Lake Forest Drive
  
• Second detour: Northbound Rockfield to northbound straight on-ramp from Lake Forest Drive

Caltrans will erect electronic message signs to notify drivers of the closure. The work schedule is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.
