La Autoridad de Tránsito del Condado de Orange (OCTA) celebrará próximamente reuniones públicas de evaluación del proyecto de intercambio de la I-5 con El Toro Road: una presencial (26 de julio) y otra por Zoom (3 de agosto). En cada una, un taquígrafo judicial registrará los comentarios; de lo contrario, los residentes pueden enviar sus comentarios por correo postal (Emily Czaban, ICF, 49 Discovery, Suite 250, Irvine, CA 92618) o correo electrónico (ELToro@dot.ca.gov o D12.ELToro@dot.ca.gov con el asunto “Proyecto de Intercambio de Carreteras I-5 El Toro”) a más tardar a las 5 p. m. del viernes 25 de agosto.

Se anima a los residentes a compartir cualquier inquietud que puedan tener sobre las posibles mejoras futuras al intercambio de la I-5/El Toro Road que están considerando OCTA y Caltrans. ¡Hay mosquitos invasores en el condado de Orange! Aedes aegypti (mosquito de la fiebre amarilla) y Aedes albopictus (Mosquito tigre asiático) no es nativo de California y puede transmitir zika, dengue, chikungunya y fiebre amarilla. 

Siga estos consejos para prevenir las picaduras y la reproducción de mosquitos:

• Aplique repelente de mosquitos en la piel expuesta antes de salir al aire libre; vuelva a aplicarlo según se recomiende.
• Use ropa repelente que contenga DEET®, picaridina, IR3535 o aceite de eucalipto de limón.
• Use camisas de manga larga y pantalones largos, y opte por ropa de colores más claros.
• Vacíe y drene los recipientes exteriores llenos de agua al menos una vez por semana: los platillos de plantas en macetas son los principales culpables.
• Cierre todas las puertas y ventanas sin mosquiteros para evitar que los mosquitos entren a su casa o espacio; repare o reemplace los mosquiteros rotos o dañados.
• Limpie y frote los baños de pájaros y los cuencos de agua para mascotas semanalmente.

The work of Village Television’s production team is highlighted in videos such as “Tales in the Woods,” “Good Day OC” and “Español in Laguna Woods.” More videos are added each day. How to Watch, Subscribe to Village Television YouTube

Para suscribirte a cualquier canal de YouTube y recibir notificaciones cada vez que se agregue contenido nuevo, sigue estos sencillos pasos:

1. Open the YouTube app via your home screen, in the app list or by searching.
2. Sign in to your Google account. You have to be signed in to a Google account to subscribe to YouTube channels. If you’re using an Android, you’ll automatically be logged in to the Google account linked to your smartphone or tablet. To sign in with a different account, click your profile photo at the top, select Switch Account, and either choose an account from the list or tap + to add another account. If you’re using an iPhone or iPad, tap the profile icon at the top-right corner of YouTube—if you’re signed in, you’ll see your own account info. If not, you’ll see a blue SIGN IN button—tap it to sign in.
3. Locate the Village YouTube channel. To search, tap the magnifying glass at the top of YouTube, enter Laguna Woods Village Television, and then tap the search key. Click a video to open it, or click the channel name to view its homepage. If you’re watching a video and want to subscribe to its channel, tap the down arrow at the top-left corner of the video to minimize it, and then scroll down until you see the SUBSCRIBE link.
4. Tap SUBSCRIBE. If subscribing from a video, it will be a red link below the video player. If you’re on the channel’s home page, the red link will be near the top-right corner of the screen. When you subscribe to a channel, the text on the SUBSCRIBE button will change to SUBSCRIBED. You can unsubscribe at any time by tapping this button on any of the channel’s videos or on its home page.
5. Tap the SUBSCRIPTIONS tab to manage your channel subscriptions. It’s located at the bottom of YouTube. The channels you’re subscribed to appear in the left column or along the top, depending on your phone or tablet. You can scroll down to see all of the latest updates from your subscriptions. Tap a channel icon to view recent videos; tap a video to start watching.

Get Notified of New Village Content

When you subscribe to a YouTube channel, you can check a box in the subscription form so you get emails directly to your inbox when you opt in. This allows YouTube to send you email updates each time a new video is added, a weekly summary of your subscribed channels and other options, depending on the preference(s) you ticked.

Dentro de los límites de Laguna Woods Village, hay 651 acres de jardines irrigados, sin contar los campos de golf. El sistema de riego, controlado por un sistema de control central computarizado a cargo de GRF, consta de 407 controladores de riego remotos y más de 500,000 aspersores. Todas las tuberías, válvulas, aspersores, etc., aguas abajo pertenecen a las mutuas de vivienda. 

Como habrán oído, GRF está instalando un nuevo sistema de control maestro de riego. Este proyecto 80% ya está completo y los técnicos de riego están probando el nuevo sistema en tiempo real durante el día.

La mayor parte del riego de jardines se realiza por la noche; sin embargo, durante los próximos meses, es posible que vea riego durante el día. Los técnicos estarán operando los sistemas a tiempo completo, ajustando los cabezales de riego y los tiempos de riego para aumentar la eficiencia y reducir la escorrentía. Debido a la complejidad y antigüedad de los sistemas de riego, eliminar por completo la escorrentía es imposible, pero nuestro objetivo es reducir la sobrepulverización y ajustar la duración de los ciclos de riego para reducir el desperdicio de agua y los costos asociados.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is up to 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine. In its prescription form, it is prescribed for pain, but fentanyl is also made illegally.

Illicit fentanyl is being used to make fake prescription pills. Fake pills are easy to purchase, often contain fentanyl or other synthetic opioids, and can be deadly. The only safe medications are those prescribed by licensed and accredited medical professionals.

La semana pasada, VMS despidió con mucho cariño a Lisa Hart, quien fue la presentadora de Village Television durante cinco años. El gerente general de Servicios de Banda Ancha, Paul Ortiz, contrató a dos nuevos presentadores que compartirán las funciones: Bobbi Higgins y Michael Taylor.

Bobbi cuenta con 30 años de experiencia en radiodifusión, tanto delante como detrás de cámaras, y ha presentado diversos programas de televisión, incluyendo programas de entrevistas, vídeos corporativos y deportivos, además de haber realizado la voz en off de innumerables anuncios, vallas publicitarias y vídeos corporativos. Bobbi es licenciada en Comunicación por la Universidad del Sur de California.

Michael también cuenta con más de 30 años de experiencia en radiodifusión, tanto delante como detrás de cámaras. Trabajó en PBS SoCal KOCE durante más de 14 años, donde fue director de noticias, y ha desempeñado funciones de productor y reportero para el programa diario de noticias en vivo de PBS. Michael es licenciado en Periodismo Audiovisual por Cal State Fullerton.

Ambos han vivido en Saddleback Valley durante más de 25 años y tienen un vasto conocimiento de la zona, especialmente de Laguna Woods Village.
