PROGRAM: “Supporting Career Readiness Via a Community College Education”

COLLEGE CLUB IN LAGUNA WOODS VILLAGE

           WELCOMES Dr. Cynthia Olivo, PhD

      President, Fullerton College

Recently, data was released indicating that cost of living is highest in Orange County than any other County in Southern California. Our young people are navigating challenging circumstances, and a local Community College is rising to the occasion through innovative approaches to supporting students in obtaining the education necessary to excel.

Dr. Cynthia Olivo is President of Fullerton College, one of the largest and oldest community colleges in California, founded in 1913. Since beginning her presidency in January 2023, Dr. Olivo has led a bold transformation of the college to expand equity-minded programs, secure record-breaking resources, and strengthen Fullerton’s role as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI). The granddaughter of migrant farmworkers born in the U.S. during segregation and the daughter of a single mother, Dr. Olivo is a proud first-generation college graduate and third-generation Chicana. Her journey continues to shape her deep commitment to advancing equity, justice, and opportunity for all students.
