Low-Profile Trash Bins Available

As a courtesy service for residents who have expressed difficulty placing trash in CR&R’s new bins, which are about 6 inches taller than the previous bins, the company is providing low-profile bins free of charge to Village residents who request them.

The previous Waste Management bins had low-profile casters, but they were very difficult to move and are not available on the market. CR&R is manufacturing their own low-profile bins.

To request a low-profile bin, for more information or to ask trash, recycling and organics recycling questions, contact CR&R at LagunaWoods-Recycles@CRRmail.com or 949-625-6735.

One Whale of an Effort

The photo above depicts Mesa Water District’s Stella, on display at John Wayne Airport at Terminal A Baggage Claim on Carousel 1.

Forty illustrated, 8-foot-long baby whale statuettes, all fondly referred to as “Stella,” are scattered across Orange County in honor of Earth Month as part of a larger campaign led by the Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC), the county, Orange County Conservation Corps and the local nonprofit Wyland Foundation.

The campaign, “Streams of Hope,” seeks to increase public awareness and education about the preservation and health of local watersheds through art.

To honor Earth Month, the Laguna Woods Art Association is partnering with the El Toro Water District (ETWD), the artist Wyland and MWDOC to paint a Stella whale and display it temporarily in the Community Center.

The Laguna Woods Art Association’s Stella will arrive soon (stay tuned for her exact arrival) and remain for about a month, through mid-May. After a brief display stint at ETWD, Stella will go back to the association to keep and display.
