VMS is excited to announce that our community is upgrading from CodeRED to the Everbridge emergency notification system, which is a more robust and widely used platform that enhances our ability to keep you informed via text, email and phone during critical events.
Meet Everbridge
Everbridge is a global platform used by organizations, including municipalities and large communities, to send critical emergency alerts and notifications to residents. It allows for rapid communication during emergencies like natural disasters, fires or other urgent situations. Everbridge enables authorities to send messages via text, email, voice and mobile push notifications, ensuring that residents receive timely information no matter their preferred communication method.
Why the Change
Everbridge (Nixle) offers advanced features that allow us to send timely alerts via text, email and push notifications, ensuring you receive important information. This system is trusted by municipalities across the country for its reliability and effectiveness.

Other Alert Resources
- AlertOC notification system: Enroll in the county’s mass notification system, AlertOC, at ocgov.com/about-county/emergency. This service delivers time-sensitive messages directly to your home, mobile, or business phone, with options for text and email notifications.
- Fires, floods, earthquakes and tsunamis are just a few of the hazards that should motivate us to prepare our homes, families and businesses. The ReadyOC campaign has launched a “Promise to Prepare” challenge for people who live, work or go to school in Orange County.
- MyShake: This free app, developed by UC Berkeley and sponsored by the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, provides early warnings before shaking begins.
