Advanced Care Planning 101
On Wednesday, April 3, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center, Dining Room 1, learn about advanced care planning courtesy of the Optimal Aging Lecture Series. Explore the components, how to complete a plan and why you may need it. No registration is required and the seminar is free.
Guest lecturer Maryam Rahimi, MD, FACP, is a board-certified UCI Health internal medicine physician specializing in preventive care, management of chronic illness, women’s health, cancer screening and palliative care. Her research interests include screening for dementia, hypertension in primary care and advanced care planning, which can help patients, families and physicians clarify treatment wishes in the event of a serious illness or end of life. She is a lead UCI Health investigator on a five-year study to develop better approaches to advance care planning for seriously ill patients in collaboration with UC San Francisco Health and UCLA Health.
