Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Program Returns in March

Residents of Laguna Woods have an opportunity this month to reduce the cost of spaying or neutering their pets through the annual low-cost spay/neuter program sponsored by Protecting Unwanted Pets (PUP).

The program helps cover the majority of the cost of the procedure, supporting responsible pet ownership while helping reduce pet overpopulation. Spaying or neutering also provides important health benefits for animals.

To participate, residents must purchase a voucher, available now through Tuesday, March 31, at the Laguna Beach Animal Shelter, located at 20612 Laguna Canyon Road. The shelter accepts cash or check only. Voucher prices range from $30 to $125 for spay procedures and $15 to $95 for neuters, depending on the animal’s weight.

There is a limit of two pets per household, and all dogs must have a current dog license. Each pet will be evaluated by a veterinarian before the procedure. If additional medical care is required, the pet owner will be responsible for any added costs.

Procedures will take place in April at participating veterinary clinics: Laguna Beach Animal Hospital and Laguna Beach Veterinary Medical Center.

Residents interested in taking advantage of the program should purchase vouchers by March 31. For more information, contact the Laguna Beach Animal Shelter at 949-497-3552.
