Topic Masters Club is a community group that offers a relaxed and supportive environment for residents to build confidence in public speaking, share life experiences, and connect with others.
Qué esperar
A typical meeting starts with pledge of allegiance, followed by inspiration. The Master of Ceremonies introduces the Grammarian who will reveal the word of the day—a playful challenge encouraging members to use it in their responses to the quizmaster’s question (or drop a quarter in the jar if they forget). Members respond to questions on the spot, sharing thoughts and stories, while a Timekeeper keeps each response within two minutes to maintain a lively pace.
Midway through, the group takes a 15-minute break for refreshments and conversation.
After the break, two members deliver prepared 10–12 minute speeches, followed by evaluations, offering constructive feedback to help speakers grow in confidence, clarity, and presence.
A General Evaluator shares observations on how the meeting flowed and how it might improve. The Grammarian returns to reveal who used the “Word of the Day” correctly and who might owe a quarter. The Timekeeper then announces the “Best Speaker of the Day,” based on ballots cast during the break. The winner receives a certificate and a candy bar.
Before adjournment, a clipboard circulates for members to volunteer for next week’s roles—Master of Ceremonies, Grammarian, Timekeeper, Quizmaster, speakers, evaluators and inspiration leader. It’s a simple tradition that keeps the club vibrant and member-driven. With roles filled and no further business, the meeting adjourns.
