No one likes to talk about sewage backups, but when one affects your home, it quickly becomes an urgent issue. In the Village, sewer lines are aging and have limited capacity, making them especially vulnerable to blockages and overflows that can impact buildings throughout the community.
One of the biggest causes of these blockages is personal hygiene wipes. Despite being marketed as “flushable,” these products do not break down like toilet paper. Once a sewer line or toilet is clogged, the blockage attracts additional debris and becomes a critical issue.
Always dispose of wipes in the trash, never in Village toilets. To help protect the community’s plumbing system, please flush only standard bathroom tissue.
