Coyotes are a natural part of Southern California’s ecosystem and are often seen around the Village. The Coyote Awareness page found under Services > Coyote Awareness and Reporting on the Sitio web de Laguna Woods Village provides residents with helpful information about living safely alongside local wildlife.
On this page, residents will find guidance on how to recognize and respond to coyote encounters, steps to reduce attractants around homes and tips for protecting pets while outdoors. Residents can also learn how Laguna Beach Animal Services manages coyote activity in the area, including education, habitat management and deterrence methods used to discourage aggressive behavior.
Additional resources and educational materials are available to help residents understand what to do, and what not to do, when coyotes are spotted in the community.
