1. Laguna woods is a member of OC Public Libraries.
2. OC Public Libraries was founded in 1921.
3. OC Public Libraries serves 1.6 million people in 24 member cities and unincorporated areas in 32 library branches throughout Orange County.
4. OC Public Libraries does not have a central library. Instead, it focuses on putting resources into community branches.
5. The Laguna Woods branch is the smallest OC Public Libraries branch, operating from an eight-foot counter inside City Hall.
OC Public Libraries has the following resources:
1. 1.5 million items that can be shipped to Laguna Woods for pick up.
2. Inter-library loans from more than 100,000 library collections globally.
3. Foreign language collections – 21,939 Chinese titles; 14,708 Korean titles and other titles in Arabic, Persian, Hindi, Japanese, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese.

Our city of Laguna Woods is currently building our city library, and since the state and federal funds are not enough to cover the cost of the building, I urge residents to donate to make up the shortfall.

For us to enjoy these benefits, we must build a library with a larger space, and to promote a community among residents, the library we are building will have:
1. 1,161 sq. ft. library
2. 573 square feet of outdoor event space
3. Extendable yard and space for events
The library construction costs total approximately $2.61 million. If you are willing to donate more than $50 before May 31st, your name will be placed on a plaque in front of the library – $50 is for bronze, $100 for silver, $150 for gold, $300 for platinum, and $500 for diamond.
