Definition<\/p>\n<p>Prewire: Fiber wiring from the Network Interface Device (NID) to the entry point outside the<\/p>\n<p>exterior wall of each unit, run through existing Raceway (Panduit) wherever possible. Raceway<\/p>\n<p>currently contains coax and should be reused to minimize new raceway installation.<\/p>\n<p>All existing coax cable must be considered live and active and must be gently handled and<\/p>\n<p>protected from damage.<\/p>\n<p>Il. Prewire Standards Goals<\/p>\n<p>Reduce customization \u2014 remove ambiguity and customization for technicians at the time of<\/p>\n<p>prewire and in-unit installation. In-unit power outlet location and customer preference for<\/p>\n<p>termination location do not govern fiber entry point, prewire termination location, or interior wall<\/p>\n<p>plate location.<\/p>\n<p>Reduce pathway decisions \u2014 pathways and termination points should be predetermined and<\/p>\n<p>defined prior to prewire installation.<\/p>\n<p>Reduce panduit additions \u2014 maximize reuse of existing exterior panduit pathways.<\/p>\n<p>Approved routing dictated \u2014 clear decision &#038; approval process on non-standard prewire<\/p>\n<p>termination points.<\/p>\n<p>Define Pre-wire Termination Preferred Location hierarchy \u2014 (see Section Ill).<\/p>\n<p>Aligned to building types \u2014 Pre-wire standards apply to the majority of building types.<\/p>\n<p>Eliminate rework during in unit installation and risk to in unit installation reschedule \u2014<\/p>\n<p>Ensure that the location and quality of the prewire allows the in unit installation to occur at the<\/p>\n<p>scheduled time without issue, rework, or reschedule.<\/p>\n<p>lll. Prewire Termination Location Standards<\/p>\n<p>Each unit must have one pre-defined exterior termination point for prewire. Utilizing the existing<\/p>\n<p>Panduit (raceway) pathways from NID to Unit, the options for prewire termination are:<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>Option 1 \u2014 Preferred: Living Room<\/p>\n<p>[e]<\/p>\n<p>Default termination point.<\/p>\n<p>[e]<\/p>\n<p>Used in the majority of cases.<br \/>\n[J<\/p>\n<p>Option 2 \u2014 Secondary: Entry point other than the living room (i.e. Bedroom) aligned with<\/p>\n<p>the existing raceway.<\/p>\n<p>[e]<\/p>\n<p>Acceptable alternative if living room entry is not feasible due to pathway conflicts or<\/p>\n<p>structural restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>Option 3 \u2014 Exception (Requires Approval):<\/p>\n<p>[e]<\/p>\n<p>If neither Option 1 nor Option 2 are usable (e.g., raceway pathways blocked, raceway is<\/p>\n<p>inaccessible, or physical constraints), the termination must follow the Exception<\/p>\n<p>Process outlined in section V.<\/p>\n<p>Additional prewire location criteria:<\/p>\n<p>Only one termination point is selected per unit. No multiple-entry scenarios.<\/p>\n<p>Prewire termination location should be at a vertical run of raceway to allow for entry hole height<\/p>\n<p>adjustment at time of in-unit install.<\/p>\n<p>Prewire termination locations must be accessible to in-unit installers without additional structural<\/p>\n<p>modification (i.e. a first floor prewire should be terminated on the first floor and not terminated<\/p>\n<p>on the 2nd floor).<\/p>\n<p>IV. Prewire Construction Standards<\/p>\n<p>Raceway obstructions<\/p>\n<p>Where raceway pathways intersect with obstructions such as beams or moulding the options for<\/p>\n<p>crossing the obstructions are:<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>Option 1 \u2014 Preferred: Installers must first attempt to fish the fiber through the obstruction, by<\/p>\n<p>following the existing coax cable, utilizing fish tape or other methods that will not damage the<\/p>\n<p>coax cable. Apply clear silicone as needed to reseal the hole from water intrusion.<\/p>\n<p>Option 2: If Option 1 cannot be completed without damaging the coax or structure, installers<\/p>\n<p>shall drill adjacent to the existing hole using a standard 3%&#8221; bit, ensuring the raceway fully<\/p>\n<p>covers the fiber and the new hole is sealed with clear silicone to prevent water intrusion.<\/p>\n<p>Option 3: If Options 1 and 2 cannot be safely or technically completed, installers must route the<\/p>\n<p>fiber around the obstruction on the exterior and add new raceway to fully cover the fiber<\/p>\n<p>pathway, per raceway standards.<\/p>\n<p>Raceway<\/p>\n<p>Raceway must be flush against the building.<\/p>\n<p>Raceway must fully cover fiber cables.<\/p>\n<p>Raceway must be installed in accordance with the CABLEREADY installation instruction guide.<\/p>\n<p>The guide can be found at www.ppc-online.com and searching for \u201cCableready Installation<\/p>\n<p>Instruction Guide\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Raceway must be left in previous or better condition.<br \/>\nSlack\/Fiber Management<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>Slack or Fiber Coils must be left clear of any doorways, windows, or items that may damage the<\/p>\n<p>fiber prior to installation.<\/p>\n<p>Fiber must be either zip tied to the existing coax cable or raceway brackets to ensure that it<\/p>\n<p>does not fall out of the raceway or get pinched during replacement of raceway cover.<\/p>\n<p>[e]<\/p>\n<p>Fiber cannot be zip tied to any coax removed from a raceway<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>Fiber must not be pinched, bent, or stressed beyond fiber specifications.<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>Fiber slack staged at each prewire termination point must be at least 20 feet.<\/p>\n<p>Prewire Testing &#038; QA<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>Prior to installation QA is performed to ensure the standards in this document are met.<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>After the prewire is placed to the termination location and spliced at the NID, all ground-level<\/p>\n<p>prewires are tested utilizing bare-fiber tester prior to the in-unit installation.<\/p>\n<p>Cleanup<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>Jobsite must be left in \u201csame or better\u201d condition than before work began.<\/p>\n<p>Panduit covers replaced.<\/p>\n<p>Any hand prints from installation removed.<\/p>\n<p>Trash\/debris cleared.<\/p>\n<p>Dispose of trash at designated area at the Broadband office.<\/p>\n<p>Resident property (furniture, planters, decorations,etc) returned to original location(s)<\/p>\n<p>NID<\/p>\n<p>Place NID in the lockbox on the exterior of the building.<\/p>\n<p>If a building does not have 2 NID locations, upsize the primary NID appropriately.<\/p>\n<p>Prewire crew to leave 5\u2019 of excess.<\/p>\n<p>Testing complete with bare fiber test + necessary closeout photos.<\/p>\n<p>Existing Coax Cable<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>ONLY if the raceway is completely full of coax cable and there is not room for fiber, the coax<\/p>\n<p>cable may be removed from the raceway and temporarily secured to the outside of the raceway<\/p>\n<p>during the prewire.<\/p>\n<p>[e]<\/p>\n<p>All coax cable must be considered live and active and must be gently handled and<\/p>\n<p>protected from damage.<\/p>\n<p>[e]<\/p>\n<p>Any coax cable temporarily secured outside the raceway must be taut, uniformly zip<\/p>\n<p>tied, and free of visible sag to maintain a professional appearance until the end of the<\/p>\n<p>project when it will be removed.<\/p>\n<p>Coax must remain live and undamaged.<br \/>\nV. Exception Approval Process and Decision Tree<\/p>\n<p>This exception process will be utilized for any scenario where the prewire will not follow the<\/p>\n<p>pre-approved path or for any prewires that are unable to meet the prewire standards.<\/p>\n<p>1<\/p>\n<p>Vendor to tag building in CMS as exception with proposed pathway and notes and photos.<\/p>\n<p>2<\/p>\n<p>Ting PM engaged via CMS for review and solution approval.<\/p>\n<p>3<\/p>\n<p>If Ting PM determines that GRF approval is required \u2014 Paul or Hank are engaged by Ting PM<\/p>\n<p>for alignment and approval on solution.<br \/>\nLaguna Woods Village \u2014 In-Unit Install<\/p>\n<p>Standards<\/p>\n<p>l. Definition<\/p>\n<p>In-Unit Install: Fiber wiring from the prewire termination point into the interior of each unit, minimizing<\/p>\n<p>custom in home wiring and terminating cleanly within each unit.<\/p>\n<p>All existing coax cable must be considered live and active and must be gently handled and<\/p>\n<p>protected from damage.<\/p>\n<p>Il. In-Unit Standards Goals<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>Aligned to pre-wire options \u2014 Interior standards must integrate seamlessly with existing<\/p>\n<p>pre-wire termination options.<\/p>\n<p>Eliminate customization \u2014 No resident-driven or technician-driven custom placement. Outlet<\/p>\n<p>locations are predetermined.<\/p>\n<p>Eliminate exposed fiber \u2014 Fiber must be contained within the wall, outlet box, or approved<\/p>\n<p>wallplate assembly. No visible fiber runs inside the unit other than those entering inside a closet.<\/p>\n<p>Enable quick installs \u2014 Standardized placement and termination ensures technician installs<\/p>\n<p>are consistent and fast.<\/p>\n<p>At outlet level \u2014 Fiber outlets shall be installed at standard electrical outlet height. If coax<\/p>\n<p>exists, fiber shall be placed directly left or right of the coax wallplate.<\/p>\n<p>lll. Unit Penetration, Fiber Wallplate, &#038; ONT Placement<\/p>\n<p>Standards<\/p>\n<p>Each unit must have one pre-defined in-unit termination point that aligns to the exterior prewire<\/p>\n<p>termination location.<\/p>\n<p>Exterior Penetration Standards<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>Exterior penetration points must be made behind the existing exterior raceway.<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>Exterior penetration points must be sealed with clear silicone.<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>Penetration should be made using a standard 3%\u201d bit.<\/p>\n<p>Page 1<br \/>\nScenario 1 &#8211; Wallplate on exterior wall<\/p>\n<p>In this scenario the prewire location is aligned with a wall cavity on an exterior wall of the unit. The wall<\/p>\n<p>plate will be installed directly on the inside of that exterior wall. The exterior fiber entry point must enter<\/p>\n<p>into the same wall cavity that will contain the interior wallplate, allowing a clean and direct pathway.<\/p>\n<p>Technicians may drill into the wall cavity and route the fiber to any suitable wallplate location within that<\/p>\n<p>cavity, provided the pathway remains contained and does not introduce unnecessary complexity.<\/p>\n<p>1<\/p>\n<p>Placement must always be at outlet level, not mid-wall or ceiling.<\/p>\n<p>2<\/p>\n<p>Inside the unit, the ONT wallplate may be placed 2-5 inches left or right of an existing utility<\/p>\n<p>wallplate (coax, power, or telecom) within the same wall cavity.<\/p>\n<p>Scenario 2 &#8211; Wallplate on interior wall<\/p>\n<p>In this scenario the prewire location is aligned with an interior wall perpendicular to the exterior wall.<\/p>\n<p>The wall plate will be installed on the interior wall in the first wall cavity closest to the exterior wall.<\/p>\n<p>1<\/p>\n<p>Placement must always be at outlet level, not mid-wall or ceiling.<\/p>\n<p>2<\/p>\n<p>Distance from any existing wallplate should be no less than 2 inches and no greater than 5<\/p>\n<p>inches with the existing wall cavity.<\/p>\n<p>3<\/p>\n<p>Distance from the interior wall corner should be no less than 4 inches and no greater than 8<\/p>\n<p>inches.<\/p>\n<p>Scenario 3 &#8211; Wallplate on closet wall<\/p>\n<p>In this scenario the prewire location is aligned with an interior closet. The wall plate will be installed on<\/p>\n<p>the outside of the closet wall.<\/p>\n<p>1<\/p>\n<p>Placement must always be at outlet level, not mid-wall or ceiling, and must be on one of the<\/p>\n<p>outside walls of the closet.<\/p>\n<p>Fiber must be routed using approved clips spaced no more than 12 inches apart along interior<\/p>\n<p>closet walls from exterior wall penetration point to a point where the fiber will pass through the<\/p>\n<p>closet wall and into the wall plate on the outside of the closet.<\/p>\n<p>Distance from any existing wallplate should be no less than 2 inches and no greater than 5<\/p>\n<p>inches with the existing wall cavity.<\/p>\n<p>Distance from the interior wall corner should be no less than 4 inches and no greater than 8<\/p>\n<p>inches.<\/p>\n<p>Interior holes inside the closet must be covered with fiber hole covers or sealed with clear<\/p>\n<p>silicone.<\/p>\n<p>Additional Criteria:<\/p>\n<p>Only one in-unit fiber ONT and wall plate per unit.<\/p>\n<p>Fiber outlets should be placed at outlet level, so that the top of the wall plate is 12 to 16 inches<\/p>\n<p>from the floor.<\/p>\n<p>1 ft of slack fiber must be stored inside the wall plate. No slack fiber is permitted outside the wall<\/p>\n<p>plate.<\/p>\n<p>Any interior fiber penetration holes must be concealed behind the wall plate.<\/p>\n<p>Page 2<br \/>\n\u201cProperty of Ting\u201d Stickers will be placed on the ONT itself (not the wall plate).<\/p>\n<p>Installers are NOT expected to move furniture to meet these standards, and are NOT expected<\/p>\n<p>to change the in-unit standards to work around furniture or resident requests.<\/p>\n<p>[e]<\/p>\n<p>If the resident is unable to move furniture, the install may need to be moved to the<\/p>\n<p>exception process outlined in Section VI.<\/p>\n<p>All existing coax cable must be considered live and active and must be gently handled and<\/p>\n<p>protected from damage.<\/p>\n<p>Power cord standards:<\/p>\n<p>Power cords will be provided as a service to residents, but only given as a last resort:<\/p>\n<p>1<\/p>\n<p>Installers must use existing power outlets whenever available before requesting any extension<\/p>\n<p>cord.<\/p>\n<p>If existing outlets are insufficient, the installer must ask the resident to provide a power strip or<\/p>\n<p>extension cord prior to requesting one from the lead.<\/p>\n<p>If the install cannot be completed without providing an extension cord, installers must obtain<\/p>\n<p>lead approval before any extension cord is issued or used. Power cords will not be issued to<\/p>\n<p>installers directly and their use must be approved by their lead.<\/p>\n<p>IV. In-Unit Eero\/router placement Standards<\/p>\n<p>Place Eero within 10 ft of the ONT for a clean, reliable connection.<\/p>\n<p>[e]<\/p>\n<p>Do not route ethernet where cables could cause a tripping hazard.<\/p>\n<p>The quantity of Eeros installed will be pre-defined for installers based on the unit&#8217;s square<\/p>\n<p>footage: one Eero per 1,500 square feet, or two Eeros for units larger than 1,500 square feet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProperty of Ting\u201d Stickers will be placed on the top of each Eero without covering the Eero<\/p>\n<p>label.<\/p>\n<p>Eeros must be placed in a central, open location\u2014preferably on a table or credenza\u2014to ensure<\/p>\n<p>optimal coverage.<\/p>\n<p>Best practices for best wireless coverage and aesthetics:<\/p>\n<p>Eeros must be positioned 3\u20144 ft above ground level, unless no elevated surface exists.<\/p>\n<p>Use the shortest ethernet cable that works for residents\u2019 solutions.<\/p>\n<p>Maintain 3 ft of clearance from TV, microwaves, and HVAC, if possible.<\/p>\n<p>Eero may only be placed on the floor when no elevated option exists.<\/p>\n<p>Page 3<br \/>\nV. Optical Light Level Testing &#038; Verification Standards<\/p>\n<p>Purpose:<\/p>\n<p>To ensure every in-unit fiber installation meets the required optical power standards and performance<\/p>\n<p>specifications for the XGS-PON network prior to activation.<\/p>\n<p>Testing Requirements:<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>After the ONT has been connected to the interior fiber wallplate, the installer must measure the<\/p>\n<p>optical receive (Rx) power level at the ONT using an approved optical power meter.<\/p>\n<p>The ONT light level must measure between \u201412 dBm and \u201421 dBm.<\/p>\n<p>The target range for optimal performance is \u201413 dBm to \u201417 dBm.<\/p>\n<p>All light tests should be done at a wavelength of 1550 nm.<\/p>\n<p>Readings outside this range must trigger an inspection of connectors, splices, and fiber<\/p>\n<p>cleanliness before the installation is considered complete.<\/p>\n<p>Installers must not complete activation until an acceptable light level has been verified.<\/p>\n<p>Documentation:<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>The measured ONT light level must be recorded in the CMS, accompanied by photo<\/p>\n<p>documentation of the power meter display showing the reading.<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>If the reading is outside the acceptable range, the installer must notify their Lead immediately to<\/p>\n<p>assist with resolution.<\/p>\n<p>Cleanliness &#038; Handling:<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>All connectors must be cleaned and inspected before measurement and connection.<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>No ONT should be left connected with an out-of-spec light level.<\/p>\n<p>VI. Exception Approval Process and Decision Tree<\/p>\n<p>This exception process will be utilized for any scenario where the in-unit install will be unable to be<\/p>\n<p>completed to meet the in-unit install standards for the following reasons.<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>The unit is built in such a way that meeting the standards is impossible.<\/p>\n<p>[J<\/p>\n<p>There are furniture or other obstructions preventing the installer from meeting the<\/p>\n<p>standards.<\/p>\n<p>The resident pauses the installer from proceeding at time of install based on the<\/p>\n<p>standards (i.e. the resident stops the installer from placing the ONT in the location<\/p>\n<p>approved in the standards)<\/p>\n<p>Page 4<br \/>\nException process:<\/p>\n<p>1<\/p>\n<p>Installer will engage Vendor lead for approval to add additional exterior raceway:<\/p>\n<p>a<\/p>\n<p>If approved, exterior raceway will be placed per raceway standards outlined in LWV<\/p>\n<p>Standards &#8211; Pre-wire.<\/p>\n<p>If exterior raceway is not approved or possible, Vendor Lead will engage Ting PM who will make<\/p>\n<p>best efforts to facilitate completion of the install via:<\/p>\n<p>a. Customer engagement<\/p>\n<p>b.
