Earlier this week, a recent security incident involving the theft of copper piping affected several buildings in Laguna Woods Village, resulting in temporary water service disruptions.
Water service has now been fully restored to all impacted buildings (178, 179, 180, 181, 163, 164 and 166, 641, 657), and temporary repairs have been removed. Laundry room repairs are in progress and are expected to be completed shortly. Signage has been posted in the affected area to keep residents informed.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) continues to investigate. Our Security Services team is working closely with OCSD and providing support as the investigation moves forward.
In response, OCSD and the Security Services team have increased patrols and are reviewing lighting, access points, infrastructure vulnerabilities and other preventive measures in the surrounding area.
While incidents like this are uncommon, residents are encouraged to report any unusual activity, particularly in utility or service areas. This may include work occurring at unusual hours, individuals without identifiable uniforms or vehicles accessing infrastructure, or materials that appear to have been removed and left nearby.
To report non-emergency concerns, please contact Security Dispatch at 949-580-1400 or the Orange County Sheriff at 949-770-6011. If you believe a situation is urgent, call 9-1-1.
We will continue to share updates as appropriate.
