2024 Elections Update

Ballots for the upcoming 2024 election cycle for both Third and United mutuals were mailed Tuesday, August 27, so please be sure to look for these important documents in your mailbox soon. Completed ballots for both Third and United are due by Thursday, September 26, by 11 a.m. to the inspector of elections’ post office box or by 5 p.m. to the ballot box at the Community Center (24351 El Toro Road).

Third Mutual

The Third board seeks to fill three open board positions with terms ending in 2027. The confirmed candidates are:

  • Donald Hauptman
  • Ruth Johnson
  • Robert Mutchnick
  • Craig Wayne

United Mutual

The United board seeks to fill four open board positions with terms ending in 2027.

The confirmed candidates are:

  • Maggie Blackwell
  • Pardiss Broomand
  • Marie Collins
  • Jeanne Costello
  • Alan Dickinson
  • Anthony Liberatore
  • Abbas Mohammadi
  • Charles Prater

If You Experience Ballot Issues

If you do not receive your ballot by Monday, September 9, 2024, or if your ballot is lost or damaged, call the UniLect inspector of elections duplicate request center at 1-866-466-6455, which is available 24/7 throughout the balloting period. For any other questions regarding the election, contact Inspector of Elections, UniLect Corporation at 1-888-864-5328. According to state HOA election regulations, only one ballot is mailed per household/manor.

GRF Board Calls for Candidates

The Golden Rain Foundation (GRF) Board of Directors is calling for interested Laguna Woods Village members to submit candidate applications for the 2024 annual election. The GRF board seeks to fill five seats; two vacancy terms end in 2025; three end in 2027. One of the three terms ending in 2027 will be a delegate selected by the United board; this candidate must be a member of United.

GRF board members are elected by the corporate members who are the current members of the housing mutual boards of directors. GRF board members are not elected by general election.

Interested members may obtain an application and election process instructions at the Office of the CEO, located in the Community Center (24351 El Toro Road), from Corporate Secretary Makayla Schwietert (949-268-2295) or Assistant Corporate Secretary Paul Nguyen (949-268-2383).

Upon arriving at the Community Center, check in with the concierge and state you are there to receive an application from the corporate secretaries.

Completed applications, candidate video agreements and candidate statements documents are due to Ms. Schwietert or Mr. Nguyen no later than 5 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2024. The election of candidates will occur at the annual corporate members meeting on Wednesday, November 8, 2024, at 10 a.m.
