TV6 Features The Nutcracker Ballet
On December 17 at 6 p.m. on TV6, the Pacific Theatre Ballet cordially invites you to enjoy its 15th annual production of The Nutcracker Ballet. This all-new production, filmed in November, features the talented ballerinas of the Pacific Ballet Conservatory in Aliso Viejo. The production is directed by Ann-Marie McClellan, whom some of you may know as your aerobics and stretch instructor at Clubhouse 1!
As the story goes, it is Christmas Eve. Family and friends have gathered in the parlor of the Stahlbaum home for a grand holiday party. Herr Drosselmeyer, a local councilman, a magician and Clara’s uncle, arrives. He is also a talented toymaker who has brought with him gifts for the children, including five lifelike dolls who dance to the delight of all. The party begins. A march is played. Presents are given out to the children. Drosselmeyer has a very special gift for his niece, Clara—a wooden nutcracker carved in the shape of a little soldier. Clara immediately takes a liking to it. Fritz, however, breaks it, and Clara is heartbroken.
During the night, after everyone else has gone to bed, Clara returns to the parlor to admire her beloved nutcracker. Suddenly, mice begin to fill the room. The nutcracker grows to life size. Clara finds herself in the midst of a battle between her Nutcracker Prince and the Mouse King. Watch this holiday classic to see who wins the battle of the Mouse Kingdom and Clara's magical journey to The Land of Sweets, all told in the beautiful language of classical ballet.
