VMS Board Welcomes Two New Directors
James Tung and Stefanie Brown were elected to the VMS Board of Directors representing GRF on Thursday, February 20.
A seven-year Village resident, Director Tung served on the Third Mutual Board of Directors from 2014 to 2019 and teaches tai chi classes in the community and at the Florence Sylvester Memorial Senior Center. He also was chair of the landscaping and water-conservation committees. Previously, he served as a Rowland Heights community coordinator to bridge the gap between Rowland Heights residents and the County of Los Angeles.
He holds a Master of Geology from the University of Tennessee and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, and has an extensive background in geophysics.
He will fulfill a term ending this year.
According to a written statement, Director Tung looks forward to monitoring VMS efficiency and performance.
Director Brown, a two-year Village resident, is a boarder at the Equestrian Center and member of the Saddle Club. She holds a master’s degree in clinical counseling and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence, and brings extensive experience as a trial and appellate lawyer, a partner in a national litigation firm, a professional mental health and marriage/family counselor and a small business creator and owner.
She will fulfill a term ending in 2021. “I am committed to and financially invested in this community and intend to make it my ‘forever home,’” Director Brown said in a written statement. “I am volunteering to help keep Laguna Woods Village a welcome place for new residents and a pleasing, well-managed, interactive place for existing residents so we can all continue to invest in our surroundings and experience retirement as enjoyably as possible.”
