Village Energy Task Force Talks Microgrids
The costly financial losses due to power outages can be averted by a self-sufficient energy system called a microgrid, a localized group of electricity sources that serves a discrete geographic footprint like Laguna Woods Village. Did you know that our community could have an operational microgrid without any outlay of capital?
The Village Energy Task force has invited Gene Okum, a microgrid planning and installation professional, to speak on the current state of the energy industry at the next meeting on Wednesday, March 4, at 1 p.m. in the Community Center Board Room at 24351 El Toro Road. Okum will discuss alternative configurations of microgrids and how elements of energy generation and storage interact within the microgrid and with the existing power company grid.
The meeting is open to all interested community members.
