2019 Village Games Winners
Congratulations to all the winners of the 16th Annual Village Games! Over the course of three weeks in April nearly 400 Village Residents competed for medals in 22 athletic and sports activities, including archery, badminton, basketball, bicycling, billiards, bocce ball, bridge (progressive), equestrian, golf (18 hole, 9 hole), golf (par 3), lawn bowling, paddle tennis, petanque, pickleball (indoor, outdoor), poker, shuffleboard, softball, swimming, table tennis, target shooting, tennis and volleyball.
More than 800 gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded at the individual competitions. The most popular events were pickleball, table tennis, tennis and paddle tennis. Two competitors proved that you’re never too old for the game. Berta Speisman, 93 years old, competed in table tennis and Harvey Miller, 94 years old, competed in lawn bowling.
“We want to thank and congratulate all of the participants in this year’s Village Games,” said Brian Gruner, Recreation and Special Events Director. “The Games highlighted unique events providing friendly competition amongst our thriving Residents. The event has been a Village tradition for 16 years and we are so pleased to be coordinating the event in conjunction with the various clubs each year.”
