1,000-Mile Challenge

Recently, a 1,000-Mile Club party was hosted for 43 Village Residents who completed the 2018 1,000-Mile Challenge. Each participant’s goal was to reach 11 peaks during a virtual trek that began at Laguna Woods Village, continued to nearby Santiago Peak at the top of Saddleback Mountain, and ended in Northern California at the peak of Mt. Shasta. Participants who completed the challenge by walking, jogging, swimming, biking or doing any cardio activity that involves distance: Charles Armstrong, Mindy Armstrong, Catherine Aubert, Don Barnes, Kenneth Benson, Robert Boyd, Deborah Carr, Amy Sterling Casil, Rebecca Curry, Lillian Davis, Fred Flener, Shirley Frankel, Egon Garthoffner, Sharon Gillen, Jonathan Hefferlin, Kathy Higa, Sally Ingmanson, Karen Jackson, Irene Jemetz, Sandra Jones, Karen Kahn, Vasuedo Karmarkar, Bill Kasper, Elizabeth Khzouz, Myung Soon Kim, Dian Kopensky, Mei Lan Liew, Pao-yean Liu, Joe Mack, Karen Mack, Lanie Mower, Ray Ouellette, Catherine Paulson, Diane Phelps, Jo Ann Post, Annette Sabol-Soule, Don Shigemura, Margaret Smith, Sheryl Strich, Mary-Ellen Syer, Ann Marie Watts, Richard Watts and Margaret Woods.
