Classic Radio Theatre November 17-19
The Old Pros present a live performance of "Old Tyme Radio Theatre" November 17-19 at the Performing Arts Center. Smart dialogue, creative sound effects and music bring to life a trio of all-time popular broadcasts originally aired in the 1940s and '50s. John Perak directs the first vignette from the long-running comedy sketch series “The Bickersons” in which a high-strung woman wakes her husband at 3 a.m. to complain about his snoring and some hilarious bickering ensues. In a witty episode from the celebrated radio sitcom “The Great Gildersleeve,” the eponymous, blustery Gildy seeks distractions from the chore of doing income-tax returns, but things do not quite go according to plan. The piece is directed by Ben Holtman.
Directed by Carol Shallin and produced by Sheila Bialka, “The Day the Earth Stood Still” is the radio dramatization of the acclaimed sci-fi movie in which a humanoid alien lands to tell earthlings they must stop warring among themselves—or else.
Tickets are available at the box office for $12 and $15.
