One Club Length or Two?<\/p>\n
swing smarter!<\/p>\n
If you are taking relief from an abnormal course<\/p>\n
condition, such as cart paths, ground under repair or<\/p>\n
obstructions, this is considered \u201cfree relief.\u201d No penalty<\/p>\n
strokes are assessed. To proceed, identify the nearest<\/p>\n
point of complete relief that is not closer to the hole,<\/p>\n
then measure one club length from that spot. The<\/p>\n
measurement must be taken using the longest club in<\/p>\n
your bag, other than your putter.<\/p>\n
If your ball lies in a penalty area marked with red<\/p>\n
or yellow stakes and you choose to take relief, first<\/p>\n
determine the point where your ball last crossed the<\/p>\n
margin of the penalty area. From there, you may take<\/p>\n
two club lengths of relief, but you will incur a one-<\/p>\n
stroke penalty.<\/p>\n
