\nWhen pruned correctly,<\/p>\n
citrus-fruit trees are<\/p>\n
hardier and less prone<\/p>\n
to disease\u2014and produce<\/p>\n
quality fruit<\/p>\n
rune a citrus tree only when fruit is present\u2014this short<\/p>\n
window extends just a few weeks after the fruit is completely<\/p>\n
ripe. Prune the plant prior to its next flowering<\/p>\n

If you are pruning a small tree (10 feet in height and width), aim<\/p>\n
for an open branch form that has a dense foliage canopy but an<\/p>\n
uncluttered crown of branches. Remove all dead branches and<\/p>\n
branches crossing others<\/p>\n
Shape trees with selective pruning (not hard pruning) once every<\/p>\n
three months. Always make clean cuts with clean tools. After<\/p>\n
pruning, disinfect tools with a weak dilution of water and bleach<\/p>\n

You’ll know it\u2019s time to harvest fruit when the citrus is in full<\/p>\n
color and just slightly soft. Removing the fruit is not only<\/p>\n
beneficial to your health, but it also prevents citrus regreening,<\/p>\n
which severely decreases the future fruit quality and production<\/p>\n
