As wildfire season approaches during the dry summer months, it\u2019s important<\/p>\n
to be ready. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection<\/p>\n
(CAL FIRE) recommends the following wildfire preparedness steps:<\/p>\n
BE PREPARED<\/p>\n
\u00bb Know your fire extinguishers: where they are, how to use them and check<\/p>\n
expiration dates.<\/p>\n
\u00ab Learn how to safely shut off gas, electricity and water.<\/p>\n
\u00ab Prepare a \u201cgo bag\u201d with three-day supply of nonperishable food, water, medications,<\/p>\n
batteries and a flashlight, and pet food. Include copies of important documents.<\/p>\n
\u00ab Create a wildfire action plan with evacuation routes, meeting spots and family<\/p>\n
communication plans.<\/p>\n

Residents are strongly encouraged to enroll at alertoc.org to receive critical alerts<\/p>\n
during fire, weather and public safety emergencies.<\/p>\n
To supplement countywide updates, Village Management Services (VMS) uses<\/p>\n
the Everbridge notification system to share brief, community-specific alerts when<\/p>\n
needed. Everbridge messages may include urgent local instructions or reinforce<\/p>\n
guidance from county agencies.<\/p>\n
