Theatre Guild April 2013
ON APRIL 18th, JOIN US FOR AN EVENING OF ONE-ACT PLAYS. Plus, A BONUS SCENE FROM THE ODD COUPLE (FEMALE VERSION).
It’s Hell Gettin’ Old -- very, very funny! Bob Powell directs Ed Hayes, Joel Breding and Fred Jonas as they play three senior men reminiscing about their lives. Audiences cannot contain their laughter as they recognize themselves in these hapless characters, who either have trouble hearing each other or trouble remembering what they want to say.
Welcome to Acceptance -- a bank robber who specializes in small-town banks runs into a teller who thinks he's a hoot - after all he is wearing pantyhose on his head! Director Estra Shaffer says she is excited to work with two brand new and very talented Theatre Guild members - Steve Horowitz and Susan Kelleher. (see photo to left)
Also feature a sneak preview of The Odd Couple (female version) with Terry Fiset, Benji Johnson, Ed Hayes and Lewis Marcus doing the highly comedic scene from the dinner-party between Olive and Florence (Oscar Madison and Felix Unger) and the Spaniards who live upstairs. Estelle Dinunzio, Sue Brown, Barb Powell, and Lenore Levan will set up the action with a preview of their very funny Trivial Pursuit game.
Theatre Guild March 2013
Plans for the March 21st meeting feature two ONE-ACT plays. At 6:45 in Clubhouse 7 will feature:
"All the Comforts of Home" -- a charming counterfeiter and two senior ladies. Directed by Carol Glenn Shallin and Sue Brown. Three senior ladies (Marge Barrett, Joan Laing, and Cecile Unatin) run an ad in the newspaper to rent a room in their small home. Cast includes Bill Brown, Vicki Robbins, and Benji Johnson.
"At Halftime" -- a basketball coach needs to turn things around at halftime. “At Half Time” is an award-winning senior theatre production directed by Kate Jacobs that will leave audiences laughing out loud. The cast includes Ed Hayes, Benji Johnson, Estelle DiNunzio, Lenore Levan, Susan Kelleher, and Bonnie Morris. Hilarity ensues during "At Half Time" when the ladies of the "over-60" basketball team are berated by their coach, who is beside himself that the ladies are down 56-3 at half time against a group of nuns.
Everyone is welcome to come enjoy the comedy and support neighbors who have worked (and played) hard to make these shows a hit!Auditions for our Spring comedy "The Odd Couple" (female version) were held:
March 8 (clubhouse 2, dining room 3) 1-4pm
March 9 (clubhouse 3, dining room 1) 9:30-12:30pm
We need 6 women and 2 men.
Theatre Guild February 2013
Dues for 2013 are due! Please bring your checkbook to the February meeting: $15 for individuals, $25 for couples.
Theatre Guild's Feb. 21st general meeting featured the "Our Funny Valentine" show. Members and guests were treated to several very funny vignettes highlighting the "realities of romance." In one of the skits, Bob and Barb Powell meet for a blind date where Bob announces his intention to make use of the contents of his little square packet before the night is over. Things get funny fast, until Barb learns he's talking about "Alka Seltzer."

Theatre Guild urges anyone interested in great fun working with a team of super people to try out for the shows. No prior acting experience is required.
Welcome to our new member, Kate Jacobs, who is not a stranger to Theater Guild. Kate performed last year in our Spring play, “You Can’t Take It With You.”
One of our members, Betty Christensen, passed away. Her husband, Ted Christensen, is one of our "Amigos," who builds sets for the Theater Guild and the Old Pros. Ted and his wife are, not only two of the sweetest people I have ever met, but Ted and I are also from Michigan and share many memories.
