What's Up in the Village

There will be Fireworks (Literally!) at the Village Fourth of July Celebration

This Independence Day, bring your friends and family to the Clubhouse 2 Fourth of July celebration. Enjoy live music with Village favorites Doc Rock It & the Radio Flyers, plus a bounce house and arts and crafts for the kids. The highlight of the night will be the first ever Laguna Woods Village fireworks show!

Bring chairs or a blanket, because seating will not be provided. You can BYO drinks too—please, no glass bottles or containers. The Just Chill ‘N Ice Cream Truck and  Martinez Food Stand will be available to purchase refreshments.

The concert begins at 6:15 p.m., and the fireworks begin at 8:45 p.m.

The Fourth of July Celebration is no cost. Grounds open at 4 p.m. (please, no early arrivals). Parking is available at Clubhouse 7 and the Community Center, with complimentary shuttle service provided. The Gate 12 entrance will be used for unloading only; no parking is allowed by the 19 Restaurant or Clubhouse 2. Since parking is limited, consider carpooling with a neighbor. Call 949-597-4286 for more information.

GRF Soaks Up the Sun

If you’ve visited Clubhouse 4 recently, you may have noticed solar panels on the roof near the pool. These panels were recently installed by GRF to help heat Pool 4 by utilizing renewable energy, and lowering energy costs. Plans are in place to install panels to heat pools throughout the Village. Happy swimming, and don’t forget the sunscreen!

Efficient, Effective and Fun!

Laguna Woods Village Residents have a new way of getting around! The Golden Rain Foundation has purchased two specially equipped, handicapped accessible Toyota ‘Sienna’ vans for the Plan-A-Ride program designed for residents that have special mobility needs. The vans carry three passengers and either two wheelchairs or one power cart and come equipped with a rear-access ramp. These vans increase ability for Village Transportation to pick up residents in areas of the community that are difficult to access with full size buses, and to transport riders to appointments more quickly and efficiently. They have been in use for a few months now, generating many compliments from the residents.

Keepin’ it Clean in the Common Areas

Summer has arrived, and so has the time to enjoy the outdoors. Don’t let your summertime fun extend in to the common area around your manor, study the rules regarding items placed in or on common areas. Compliance with the rules is important to protect the safety and attractiveness of the community, and to prevention of damage. For For details, Third residents click here and United residents click here. Keep it clean, or you may be subject to a disciplinary action, including a fine.

Third’s Trees get a New ‘Do for Summer

Tree trimming has begun in Third Mutual. The Landscaping Division trims trees throughout the community for a number of reasons, including: to improve the structure of the tree, to improve a tree’s appearance, to remove diseased or damaged wood, and to improve wind resistance. Tree pruning practices in the Village have been customized to improve the trees’ health and ability to withstand storm damage in light of the shallow rooting of man of the community’s trees.
