Landscape Improvements Require Removal of Some Plants Near Gates 10 and 11

Improvements to landscaping along the edge of the community that borders the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park near Gates 10 and 11, have begun and will continue into June. This portion of the community falls within the Orange County Fire Authority’s Ember/Fire Hazard Severity Zones.  OCFA is working with all property owners in these zones to minimize fire fuel load and staff is removing old, large and woody plants and bushes, and replacing them with new, drought-tolerant, lower growing plants. The work is anticipated to have the added benefit of reducing coyote activity as potential hiding areas will be eliminated. Please be aware that the work requires significant removal of existing slope landscaping, so residents will see bare areas until the landscaping is reestablished. Questions? Hop, Trot or Gallop to the Equestrian Center for an Easter Celebration!

On Saturday, April 15, the Equestrian Center will once again host its annual Easter Horse Show! The Easter Bunny, Village clowns, sweet treats and balloon fun will greet residents and their guests beginning at 9 a.m. Enjoy a horse parade in the arena, followed by an egg hunt on the front lawn. Children will also enjoy the popular pony rides in the stable courtyard. Complimentary coffee, juice, bottled water and donuts will be available.
This community tradition is provided free of charge. Don’t miss this chance to make lasting memories with your grandchildren!
Please arrive early to get on-site parking. Overflow parking is available at City Hall across Moulton Parkway; please do not park at the animal hospital. For more information, call 949-597-4275.

Third to Refer Drone Policy Back to Security Committee
On Tuesday, April 18, the Third Mutual Board intends to refer the drone policy back to the Security Committee for review. Previously the Third Board made comments that the Committee and staff should consider prohibiting drones in the Village unless they are flown by staff or an individual commissioned by staff. Additionally, that staff will still be required to complete a flight plan that is submitted for review by the Security Chief in order to meet the standards of any policy and Federal law. This approach will address concerns raised by residents of safety and privacy. After the Security Committee makes a recommendation, GRF and United are expected to reconsider their drone policies as well.
