United Laguna Woods Mutual has the following window replacement policy:

Windows will not be replaced at the expense of United Laguna Woods Mutual for any reason other than structural or mechanical malfunction and/or failure of the windows. Residents are free to replace windows at their own expense, following established procedures.”

 

  1. Established procedures for the replacement of windows in both United Laguna Woods Mutual and Third Laguna Hills Mutual include the following:
  2. Members must obtain both a Mutual permit and a City of Laguna Woods Retrofit Window Certificate or City Permit.
  3. Members must supply the Permits and Inspections office with City permit/certificate number prior to beginning work.
  4. Members applying for permit should provide detailed plans to the Permits and Inspections office for approval, which includes size, location, description, and specifications of all work to be done.
  5. All window installations must be performed by a California licensed contractor and in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal requirements, including but not limited to the current edition of the Uniform Building Code.
  6. The Member is solely responsible for the maintenance and repair of all alterations to the building.

For all applicable requirements on window applications, installation requirements, types of glass, attachments, stained glass, wrought iron grilles, garden windows, sliding glass doors, and removing windows, please refer to either the Third Architectural Alteration Standards (for residents of Third Laguna Hills Mutual) or the United Architectural Alteration Standards (for residents of United Laguna Woods Mutual).
